Weapon Stats and DPS

Rate of fire, magazine, empty reload, and both burst and sustained DPS for every weapon — sustained being the figure that accounts for reloading, which is the one that decides a long fight. Community-measured in the official Division 2 Discord's #build-advice channel.

Burst against sustained

Two weapons with the same burst DPS can perform very differently once reloading is counted. Sorting by sustained DPS reorders the list and is usually the more honest comparison for a long fight.

Mission Focus

Use this table to compare Division 2 weapons by sustained DPS, burst DPS, rate of fire, magazine size and reload time before spending materials on an upgrade.

Burst DPS and Sustained DPS Are Different Questions

Burst DPS is rate of fire multiplied by damage - what the weapon does while the trigger is held and the magazine lasts. Sustained DPS divides the whole magazine by the time it takes to fire and reload it.

For a short window, burst is the number that matters. For a long fight, or any weapon with a small magazine and a slow reload, sustained is the honest figure and it can reorder the list completely.

What to Compare Before Committing Materials

  • Sustained DPS for anything you will fire continuously.
  • Empty reload time, which is what separates two weapons with identical burst.
  • Base against modded magazine, since mods change the sustained figure.
  • Rate of fire against your talents - some scale with shots, not damage.
  • Damage per shot for headshot and one-shot oriented builds.

A Note on Accuracy

These figures are community-measured in the official Division 2 Discord rather than datamined, and they reflect the game version noted in the source spreadsheet. Treat them as a strong comparison between weapons rather than as exact in-game readouts.

Where DivGaming has datamined values from the item database, those are what the Build Tool calculates with; this page exists to compare weapons against each other.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between burst DPS and sustained DPS?

Burst DPS is rate of fire multiplied by damage per shot — the output while the magazine lasts. Sustained DPS divides a full magazine by the time taken to fire and reload it, so it accounts for downtime.

Which number should I compare weapons on?

Sustained DPS for anything fired continuously, and for weapons with small magazines or slow reloads. Burst DPS matters more for short engagements and ambush play.

Are these the exact in-game values?

They are community-measured rather than datamined, so treat them as a reliable comparison between weapons rather than an exact readout. The Build Tool calculates with datamined figures from the item database.

Why do base and modded magazine both appear?

Mods change magazine size, which changes sustained DPS. Showing both makes clear how much of a weapon’s sustained figure depends on being modded.
